Cctv online - Chinese Tv censor Obama’s speech
Cctv china - China Central TV International in Chinese and websites have censored sections of Barack Obama’s inauguration speech, removing references made by the new US president to communism and political dissent, oh CCTV.
The line that triggered the cut-off was:
‘Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions.’
In many Chinese translations of the speech the reference to communism was removed, while the paragraph on “silencing of dissent” was entirely absent. The amended version of the speech of obama appeared on the website of the China Daily newspaper and leading internet portals such as Sina.com and Sohu.com.
Earlier, while carrying a live broadcast of the address, state-run CCTV abruptly cut away from its coverage and back to the studio after the Chinese translator said the word “communism”
