Forbes rich list 2009 – Bill Gates Microsoft co-founder has regained the title of the world’s richest man, he’s worth $US40 billion (62 billion AUS).
Bill Gates’s topped Forbes’ annual rich list after close contenders, Warren Buffett (investment expert) and Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim, each lost $US25 billion (39 AUS billion) amid the economic downturn.
The financial devastation has taken a heavy toll on the world’s billionaire’s club, with the top 10 richest people losing a total of $US238 billion (368 billion).
In total the number of billionaires in the 2009 rich list fell to 793 from 11 hundred a year earlier, while the total net worth of the billionaire’s club is just $US2.4 trillion (3.7 trillion AUS), down from $US4.4 trillion (6.8 trillion AUS) the year earlier, poor you are!
